Job Summary
Operate CT scanners and auxiliary devices safely, setting parameters to minimize radiation exposure while producing cross-sectional images for disease diagnosis. Maintain organized patient flow, coordinate examinations efficiently, and provide immediate patient assessment, preparation, and venous access for contrast administration. Act as a liaison for departmental communication, assist with developing continuing education strategies, and teach fellow technologists and students. Ensure all staff adhere to policies, procedures, and protocols for optimal and safe equipment operation. Perform specialty studies with increasing knowledge and ability, responding immediately to patient needs and completing mandatory educational assignments. Requires ARRT CT certification within 180 days, LRT licensure for Kansas, and BLS. Part-time schedule available.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate Or GED
- Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology
- Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 180 Days
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - State Board of Healing Arts for Kansas locations only within 90 Days
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Radiography - ARRT
- Advanced computer skills, related to RIS, PACS, EMR
- Experience performing basic CT procedures
- 1 or more years of large facility experience
- Must have an excellent working knowledge of contrast reactions and responses
- Must be able to set equipment parameters
- Must be able to provide patient assessment and education
- Must be able to provide accurate patient preparation
- Must be able to provide venous access for the safe administration of contrast material
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
- Must be able to operate all equipment safely
- Must be able to ensure that radiation exposure is set to provide the lowest dose for reasonable image quality
- Must be able to maintain an organized flow of the patients scheduled
- Must be able to coordinate examinations in the most efficient order
- Must be able to perform exams in a sequence which minimizes the patient's stay in the hospital
- Must be able to respond immediately to patient needs
- Must be able to assist with developing continuing education strategies with the CT Department
- Must be able to participate in providing teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students
- Must be able to ensure that all staff are operating equipment optimally and safely by adhering to policies, procedures and protocols
- Must be able to complete mandatory educational assignments as provided by supervisor/senior supervisor
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Radiologic Technology or in a related field of study from an accredited college or university
