Job Summary

Lead Maintenance for City of Spokane Valley Pools (seasonal and off-season floater) overseeing daily outdoor pool operations, water treatment, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and coordinating with outside contractors. Responsibilities include routine maintenance (water testing, chemical treatments, pumps, filters, heaters), safety inspections, record-keeping, and ensuring adherence to local/state/federal standards; offseason indoor maintenance coverage across multiple YMCA facilities; requires ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs, familiarity with pool-water chemistry and building management systems, and strong communication; must be able to travel to multiple worksites, work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, and possess a valid driver’s license. Starting pay is $22.50/hour.

Required Qualifications

  • Two-year technical program in HVAC or comparable program preferred
  • Three years in a like facility or building maintenance preferred
  • One specialized certification: Certified Pool Operator, Aquatics Facility Operator, Low Pressure Boiler Operator, or other applicable professional certification preferred
  • If not currently certified, will be trained and certified upon hire
  • Familiar with all job safety requirements such as PPE and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
  • Familiarity with direct digital controls for building management systems
  • Knowledge of pool water chemistry, filtration systems, general pool equipment maintenance, and health and safety regulations related to pool operations
  • Ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and meet all requirements of the YMCA Driver Policy
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Outlook and Excel, and ability to be trained on the Facilities Management system
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and time-management skills
  • Completion of YMCA required trainings upon hire
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
