Job Summary
Event Coordinator needed to support planning and execution of community-based events for Birchmount Community Action Council (BCAC) in partnership with FoodShare Toronto. Responsibilities include coordinating logistics for events, creating promotional materials, providing on-site support, and conducting post-event evaluations with data entry. The role involves working outdoors in varying weather, lifting up to 50lbs, and occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requires 2+ years of organizational and time-management experience with community projects and 1+ year planning gatherings/workshops, plus proficiency with Canva, Google Suite, and social media tools. Eligible candidates must be aged 15-30, legally eligible to work in Canada, and able to work independently and in diverse teams. Location is in-person in Toronto with some virtual days; fixed-term contract for 8 weeks at 35 hours per week with a salary of $17.60/hour.
Required Qualifications
- Be between 15-30 years of age (inclusive)
- Be Canadian Citizens, permanent residents, or persons on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations
- 2+ years of strong organizational and time management skills working with community projects
- 1+ year of experience planning and organizing community gatherings and workshops
- Previous experience working and volunteering in Birchmount is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and in diverse teams
- Experience with Canva, Google Suite, and social media tools is an asset
- Passion for community engagement, food justice, or social equity
- Repetitive tasks such as bending, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 50lbs
- Full shifts standing and working on your feet
- Working outdoors in all kinds of weather (heat, sun, rain & cold)
- Working some evening and weekends as well as occasional holidays
