Job Summary

Canada Summer Jobs Addiction & Mental Health Worker supports transitional case management and walk-in services. Responsibilities include crisis response, engaging clients to address immediate needs, identifying safety risks and relapse factors, assessing barriers to community living, designing rehab plans based on client goals, guiding clients through systems and resources, advocating as needed, and completing required documentation per CMHA standards and PHIPA. Qualifications emphasize PVSC within six months, CSJ eligibility (15–30 years old), Canadian work eligibility, and post-secondary study in social work/mental health/addictions; driver’s license and bilingual abilities are preferred. The role offers 35 hours/week for ~8 weeks with HOOPP eligibility and $17.60/hour in London, Ontario.

Required Qualifications

  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) within last six months
  • Canada Summer Jobs requirements: age between 15 and 30 at start of employment
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency or refugee protection eligibility for duration of employment
  • Valid Social Insurance Number and legal entitlement to work in Canada
  • Post-secondary education completed or in progress within social work, social services, mental health and/or addictions
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for personal transportation
  • Ability to attend work regularly
  • Current PVSC
  • First Aid/CPR (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Mental Health & Addiction (preferred)
  • Knowledge of community resources (preferred)
  • Knowledge of computerized documentation methods (preferred)
  • Health and safety knowledge including Harm Reduction (preferred)
  • Crisis intervention and prevention skills (preferred)
  • Applied Suicide Interventions Skills and Training (preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands (preferred)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (preferred)
  • Bilingual in both official languages (preferred)
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with limited supervision (preferred)
