Job Summary
Crystallographer responsible for developing and optimizing crystal growth, investigating transformation pathways and phase stability, and performing structure determination using single-crystal and powder diffraction to support small-molecule/peptide drug candidate development. Role includes analyzing and interpreting crystallographic data, supporting solid-state characterization and polymorph identification, collaborating with chemists and materials scientists, developing crystallization strategies, maintaining instrumentation and software (SHELX, Olex2, GSAS, Topas), and documenting findings in reports and publications while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry, crystallography, or related field
- Theoretical and experimental experience in solid-state materials science
- Communicate clearly using written and spoken English
- A record of innovation substantiated by publications
- Work effectively in an interdisciplinary team
- Programming or data-processing skills (Python, MATLAB) are a plus
- Experience with crystallographic software (e.g., SHELX, Olex2, GSAS, Topas)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret complex structural data
- Experience with crystallographic software (refinement/structure tools)
- Develop and apply crystallization strategies to obtain suitable crystals for structural analysis
- Maintain and operate crystallographic instrumentation and associated software
- Document findings in reports, presentations, and scientific publications
- Experience with single-crystal and powder diffraction techniques (X-ray, electron, neutron)
- Solid-state chemistry principles
- Knowledge of laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
