Job Summary
Crystal Lake Hatchery Manager at the Crystal Lake Hatchery (Petersburg, AK) leads all hatchery operations for freshwater and marine salmon culture, directs a small permanent staff and seasonal workers, prepares budgets, and coordinates with SSRAA to meet production goals. Requires an associate degree in fisheries/aquaculture or related field with minimum four years of production-scale Pacific Salmon culture and management experience. The role emphasizes staff development, facility and equipment maintenance, reporting, and implementation of modern hatchery techniques; on-site furnished housing is provided. The position entails working in cold, wet conditions, coordinating with multiple teams, and traveling as needed. Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an Associates degree in fisheries, aquaculture or related field.
- Minimum four years work history in production scale Pacific Salmon culture.
- Demonstrated work history in fisheries, aquaculture or related field with management experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience in thermal marking.
- Knowledge of local fisheries and hatchery enhancement
- Experience with public speaking, outreach and/or tourism
- BS in fisheries, aquaculture or related field (preferable)
- Four years or more of previous managerial experience
