Crossing Guard (Part-time Position)

Job Summary
Assist students to safely cross intersections and thoroughfares at established crosswalks while observing traffic gaps and leading children across. Place and remove "school zone" signs in roadways, hold visible stop signs, and monitor students to enforce District policies and report behavior issues or traffic law violations to supervisors. Perform other duties as assigned with a focus on safety and security. Requires nine months of annual part-time work; salary and specific work year terms to be established by the Board. Must possess knowledge of District policies, safety regulations, and the ability to react quickly to potential safety problems.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of District policies and procedures
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
- Skill in reacting quickly to situations that could create safety and security problems
- Skill in closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with co-workers and others
- Vision corrected to 20/20
- Ability to hear in the normal range (corrected)
- Able to speak clearly
- Able to lift, move and carry up to 10 pounds
- Must pass a thorough background investigation
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience working with children
