Job Summary
To provide for the safety and welfare of students in designated school crossing areas while in transit to and/or from school; supervise the crossing of school children, assist students/parents/staff, communicate school policies and enforcement procedures, report incidents, respond to emergencies, wear an orange safety vest and carry a red hand-held stop sign to guide students and pedestrians through crossing areas, and place/remove crossing signs as needed; requires high school education or equivalent and the ability to lift/move crossing signs and perform physical tasks as part of maintaining safe crosswalk practices.
Required Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent required
- Knowledge of traffic safety rules and school policies
- Skills & Competencies: Effective communication; ability to supervise crossing; physical ability to lift/move crossing signs; adherence to safety practices
