Job Summary
Assist children on their way to and from school safely across roadways and intersections by observing traffic gaps and utilizing signals. Lead students across roadways or intersections while holding a "stop" sign and wearing a visible traffic vest. Supervise students crossing the roadway, report relevant matters to a supervisor, and display the ability to effectively handle varied situations. Arrive on time and work consistently until the end of the scheduled day, Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 2:15 to 4:00 p.m. Provide own transportation to and from the crossing guard location as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work in a positive manner with students
- Possess positive interpersonal skills
- Valid Iowa Driver's license
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test
- Must have the ability to see and hear sufficiently to identify safety hazards
- Must have the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 15 pounds
