Job Summary
Direct traffic at assigned school intersections to ensure maximum protection for children entering and exiting school zones. Safeguard school children at crossings by controlling street traffic, selecting safe crossing times, and recognizing hazards. Patrol designated areas to aid citizens as needed and report incidents, dangerous situations, or chronically bad drivers to supervisors or law enforcement. Communicate effectively with co-workers, school personnel, parents, and the general public while adhering to departmental policies and traffic laws.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Valid SC Driver's License
- 18 years of age
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions
- Knowledge of departmental policies
- Knowledge of traffic control techniques
- Knowledge of basic traffic laws
- Knowledge of safety procedures
- Excellent verbal instructions
- Excellent written instructions
- Ability to direct school children enroute to and from school in crossing the street
- Ability to safeguard school children at intersections
