Job Summary
Provide anesthesia under the direction of an anesthesiologist for diverse surgical procedures and diagnostic tests while participating in the clinical instruction of nurse anesthesia students. Perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure, accepting responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of your own work. Maintain patient confidentiality, convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain or distress, and work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This full-time position offers flexible scheduling options and is located at the UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham campus near downtown Birmingham.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program
- Alabama Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist license
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Self-directed / self-motivated
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
- Ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control and planning of one's own work
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
- Ability to convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief
- Ability to relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from every socioeconomic, cultural and educational background
- Ability to exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment
