Job Summary
Provide anesthesia under the direction of an anesthesiologist for diverse surgical procedures and diagnostic tests while participating in the clinical instruction of nurse anesthesia students. Perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure, accepting responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of your own work. Work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment, recognizing patient confidentiality rights and conveying empathy to those experiencing pain or distress. Maintain a customer focus and strive to satisfy perceived needs while complying with all UAB policies and procedures. Join a team of 15 anesthesiologists and 70+ CRNAs providing evidence-based care across 53 operating rooms and surgical suites.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program
- Alabama Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist license
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Self-directed / self-motivated
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
- Ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control and planning of one's own work
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
- Ability to convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief
- Ability to relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from every socioeconomic, cultural and educational background
- Ability to exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment
