Job Summary

Provide anesthesia under the direction of an anesthesiologist for diverse surgical procedures and diagnostic tests while participating in the clinical instruction of nurse anesthesia students. Perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure, accepting responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of your own work. Work independently while recognizing patient confidentiality rights and conveying empathy to those experiencing pain or distress. Communicate effectively with people from every background and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment. This full-time position offers flexible scheduling options and eligibility for benefits. The UAB Division of Community Anesthesia provides evidence-based care across 53 operating rooms and surgical suites, serving over 50,000 procedures annually with a collegial working relationship among 15 anesthesiologists and more than 70 CRNAs.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program
  • Alabama Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Self-directed / self-motivated
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control and planning of one's own work
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
  • Ability to convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief
  • Ability to relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from every socioeconomic, cultural and educational background
