Job Summary
Provide anesthesia under the direction of an anesthesiologist for diverse surgical procedures and diagnostic tests while participating in the clinical instruction of nurse anesthesia students. Perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency, accepting responsibility for the direction and planning of your own work. Work independently in a fast-paced environment, recognizing patient confidentiality rights and conveying empathy to those experiencing distress. Communicate effectively with people from every background and cope effectively in emergency or critical situations. Maintain a customer focus and comply with all UAB policies and procedures. This full-time position offers flexible scheduling options and benefits, situated within a team of 70+ CRNAs serving over 50,000 procedures annually across 53 operating rooms.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program
- Alabama Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist license
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Self-directed / self-motivated
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
- Ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control and planning of one's own work
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
- Ability to convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief
- Ability to relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from every socioeconomic, cultural and educational background
- Ability to exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment
