Job Summary
The Critical Operations Technician I installs, repairs, and maintains IT, electrical, and mechanical equipment and controls in a 24x7x365 data center, monitors operations, conducts routine assessments, and analyzes data to ensure proper equipment operation. Responsibilities include installing customer equipment based on provisioning documentation, performing preventive maintenance, processing work orders, providing remote hands and eyes services, configuring computer hardware and software, and handling tickets in the ticketing system while escalating alerts to systems engineers. The role requires on-site work with no remote/hybrid option, supports customers on the Data Center floor in person and by phone, and may involve responding to building emergencies. Desired skills include strong customer focus, ability to analyze operations and troubleshoot malfunctions, proficiency with MS Office, and certifications or experience in data center environments (e.g., A+/Network+/BICSI Installer I). The role emphasizes adherence to change management processes, safety with hazardous materials, and collaboration within a team to maintain critical infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of technical training, military training, or workplace equivalency
- Background in IT, electrical, and/or mechanical
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- One or more years of work experience in data center environment, NOC, or equivalent
- BOD OEM (Panduit, Corning), A+, Network+, BICSI Installer I certifications
