Critical Lead Operating Engineer

Job Summary
Manage day operations for the second shift engineering team at Duke Energy's critical facilities, overseeing preventive maintenance for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire safety systems. Coordinate vendor scheduling, monitor contractor pricing and quality, and lead staff in developing and training on emergency operating procedures. Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repairs while ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and AHJ standards. Assist in incident investigations and respond to emergencies such as power outages or environmental spills. Work a 4/10 schedule with a shift differential.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience as a maintenance engineer preferably operating in critical environments
- electrical, mechanical, or controls trade related background
- intermediate skills in Microsoft Office
- Strong electrical/mechanical background
- proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio programs
- Good interpersonal skills
- ability to communicate well in both verbal and written reports
- reliable
- able to meet critical deadlines
- meticulous in report data
- excellent organizational skill
- authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
