Job Summary
Manage electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment through planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response. Lead a team of individual contributors, oversee site services and resources, and coordinate with internal groups to ensure service level delivery. Operate and monitor facility systems, conduct periodic inspections of HVAC and electrical distribution, and investigate indoor emergency situations. Initiate corrective actions, establish quality standards, and manage work requests while tracking budgets and staff activities. Collaborate with contractors, perform audits of maintenance procedures, and analyze project documents to propose solutions.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5+ years of directly related experience in the operation, installation, and maintenance of data center critical equipment, building systems with in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two+ years' experience in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including: Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units and CRAC units.
- Good observation skills and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
- Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
- Possession of a valid driver's license for work-related travel, as required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing operating and maintenance standards and project tracking/management documents
- Knowledge of applicable laws and ordinances in performing data, communications, and MEP projects
- The skill to provide oversight to team members for guidance and coaching
- Experience working well under pressure with a proactive approach
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to accept new ideas and procedures
- Experience using Microsoft office tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to create presentations and reports
- Enhance existing skill sets
- Experience analyzing and interpreting complex project documents such as AutoCAD and Visio
- Experience estimating cost of client installations
- Experience analyzing and proposing solutions with limited information
- Experience interpreting instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills
- Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
