Critical Facility Engineer (Data Center)

Job Summary
Monitor and support critical facility systems including UPS, generators, HVAC, and fire suppression to ensure continuous data center uptime. Respond to alarms, perform visual inspections, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and environmental issues while executing preventive maintenance schedules. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs and complete tasks adhering to safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures. Operate in a two-week rotating shift covering 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST with flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays. This on-site role requires lifting 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working at heights of 6 to 12 feet.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in one of the following: electrical and/or mechanical, large generator systems, UPS systems operation, power distribution, mechanical plant operations
- 2+ years of hands-on data center experience in critical facilities operations, maintenance, or a closely related mission-critical environment
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support 24/7 data center operations
- Must be able to climb ladders while working at heights of 6 to 12 feet
- Must be able to stand on your feet for the majority of your shift
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams
Desired Qualifications
- Technical school, trade certification, military technical training, or related coursework
- Familiarity with building management systems, electrical power monitoring systems, CMMS platforms, and service ticketing systems
- Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, fire alarm systems, and fire suppression systems
- Experience working with vendors, reviewing service reports, escorting contractors, and supporting maintenance or repair activities
- Understanding of industry safety standards and best practices, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Technical certifications related to electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, data center operations, or critical facilities maintenance
