Job Summary
Provide safety aspects of patient care including restraints, transfer techniques, and falls precautions. Deliver personal care such as bathing, mouth care, and incontinence management under RN direction. Collect specimens, empty device bags, and record accurate intake and output. Monitor nutrition by feeding patients, managing tube feedings, and counting calories. Perform vital signs, pulse oximetry, glucometer testing, and EKGs following competency. Assist with CPR, post-mortem care, and stock phlebotomy and IV trays. Maintain a clean environment, manage medication logs, and report equipment malfunctions immediately. Requires one year of acute care experience or CNA certification preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- One year prior experience as an EMT, military medic, PCA in an acute care or equivalent skill in long-term care setting, completion of a medical assistant program, or successful completion of two clinical semesters of an accredited nursing school
- AHA BLS
- Proficient in English, verbal and written communication
- Certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
- Successful completion of the Capital Health UAP Training program within 90 days of employment (in lieu of CNA certification)
