Job Summary
Provide care and treatment to chronically or acutely ill or injured patients in the ground transport environment while collaborating with Critical Care Nurses to adhere to established protocols. Administer pharmacologic agents and intravenous fluids during inter-hospital transports and operate cardiac monitors, ventilators, and IV pumps with full proficiency. Drive the ambulance to relieve the primary driver during trips with no patient onboard or to accommodate dynamic staffing needs. Document pertinent clinical information clearly in patient medical records and communicate patient status accurately to online medical control physicians. Maintain unit readiness by ensuring appropriate par levels for supplies and complying with governmental and accreditation regulations. Requires 3-5 years of paramedic experience, current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications, and a clean driving record. $15,000 or $25,000 sign-on bonus available for Day or Night shift positions with a 2-year full-time commitment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Completion of an accredited paramedic program
- Completion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course
- 3-5 years Experience as a Paramedic in a high acuity, high volume EMS system
- Virginia Paramedic preferred or National Registry Paramedic w/ VA Paramedic obtained by completion of orientation
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Advanced Life Support (ACLS) current by completion of orientation
- BLS - Basic Life Support Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) current by completion of orientation
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) current by completion of orientation
- CCP-C - Critical Care Paramedic - Certified preferred or obtains specialty certification within 18 months (CCP, FP-C)
- Unrestricted Drivers License with clean driving history, and must maintain a good driving record
- Ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed and 250 pounds with assistance, to a height of 33 inches and a distance of 10 feet
- Demonstrated high level of clinical competence
- Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication
- Basic math skills
