Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency, and outpatient settings, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, and photopheresis. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis using the nursing process and laboratory results, evaluate medication compatibility, and act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness. Coordinate closely with physicians and nurses to arrange treatments and facilitate coordinated care. Variable 1st shift Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with rotating on-call requirements. No prior experience required; full training provided.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination status (fully vaccinated or approved exemption process initiated)
