Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, and photopheresis. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments, and act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and assemble, restock, and maintain supplies and equipment. Work variable 1st shift Monday to Friday for 40 hours per week with rotating on-call duties. No prior apheresis experience is required; comprehensive training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination status (fully vaccinated or approved exemption process initiated)
