Job Summary
Perform autonomous therapeutic apheresis procedures in critical care, emergency, and outpatient settings, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, and photopheresis. Assess patient status relative to procedures using the nursing process and laboratory results, while evaluating medication compatibility and safety. Coordinate closely with physicians and nurses across multiple hospitals to arrange treatments and facilitate care, acting as a consultant to external health care personnel. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and manage vortex and bard ports. Assemble, restock, and maintain supplies and equipment to ensure a clean, safe environment. Work variable first shift Monday to Friday with rotating on-call duties. No prior apheresis experience required; comprehensive training provided.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination
