Job Summary
Provide critical care coverage in San Jose, CA, working independently in an open ICU with no APP support. Manage daily census of 12 to 19 patients, handling intubations, central lines, arterial lines, hemodialysis catheters, chest tubes, and ECMO. Respond to codes and assist with emergency privileges while navigating a physician-only model. Complete credentialing within 3 to 6 weeks, adhering to a schedule of 12-hour shifts (7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM) with a minimum of five shifts monthly. This role supports Delta Locum Tenens' mission to provide flexible, award-winning staffing for healthcare facilities across the region.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum availability of 5 shifts per month
- 12-hour shifts: Day Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 12-hour shifts: Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 3 to 6 weeks
- Facility may assist with emergency privileges

- Trauma designation: Not a designated trauma center
- ICU beds: 40
- ICU model: Open ICU that operates as a closed ICU, with intensivists serving as the admitting physicians
- Physician-only coverage model with no APP support
- Locum physician will work independently
- Average daily census per provider: Days: Approximately 12 patients
- Average daily census per provider: Nights: Approximately 15 to 19 patients
- Average admissions per shift: Days: Approximately 3

- Mixed ICU patient population, including medical/surgical, neurological, cardiovascular, and cardiac patients
- Required procedures: Intubations, central lines, arterial lines, hemodialysis catheters, chest tubes, and ECMO
- Provider must respond to codes
- EMR: Meditech
- ACLS and BLS required
Desired Qualifications
- Two or more years of Critical Care experience preferred but not mandatory
- Board-eligible physicians will likely be considered
