Job Summary
Provide direct critical care float pool coverage across General Cardiac, CVICU, MICU, Neuro ICU, and Surgical ICU units, managing high-acuity patients including STEMI, ECMO, and neuro trauma. Perform complex procedures such as CRRT, vent care, hemodynamic monitoring, and vasopressor titration while utilizing Plum 360 IV pumps and Omnicell. Float to like units including MS-MS, ER, and ICU holds, with a requirement for 24 months of float pool experience and an Alabama or compact license. Submit two charge/lead references from the last 12 months and complete required pre-employment modules. No on-call rotation; schedule includes weekend rotations and flexible contract hours of 36 or 48 per week.
Required Qualifications
- 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months
- 24 months of Critical Care Float Pool experience
- Alabama license or compact license
- Must be able to float to multiple units
- Must live >60 miles from facility
- 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB
- No current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB
- First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years' experience
- Cerner or Epic experience
- CRRT preferred for Surgical ICU
- Weekend rotation: every other weekend
- May work back-to-back weekends
- One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
- Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week
- May float to like units/patient locations: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds
- 2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
- RN
- Registered license
