Job Summary
Provide critical care float pool coverage across General Cardiac, CVICU, MICU, Neuro ICU, and Surgical ICU units, managing acute cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and surgical patients with advanced equipment like IABP, Impella, and CRRT. Perform daily duties including vent care, hemodynamic monitoring, medication titrations, arterial line management, and telemetry strip interpretation. Float to like units or ER holds as needed. Requires 24 months of float pool experience, Alabama licensure, and ACLS/NIHSS/BLS certifications. No call rotation with every other weekend schedule.
Required Qualifications
- 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months
- 24 months of Critical Care Float Pool experience
- Alabama license or compact license
- First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of experience
- Cerner or Epic experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Must live >60 miles from facility
- Must be able to float to multiple units
- Must be able to float to any like unit/patient location: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds
- Must be able to read and measure ICU telemetry strips
- Must be able to work every other weekend
- Must be able to work back-to-back weekends rarely
- Must be able to work flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week
- Must be able to work 6-week schedule cycle
- Must be able to work 7 days maximum time off
- Must be able to work 0 holidays off
- Must have 2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
- Must be able to work night shift
- Must be able to work 1/2 nurse/patient ratio
- Must be able to work 3 shifts per week
- Must be able to work 12 hours per shift
- Must be able to work travel assignment
- Must be able to work 13-week expected length
- Must be able to work 2026-09-14 contract date
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Cerner is preferred
- Experience with Epic is preferred
