Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •Master's level clinical professional
• •State of Michigan licensure, certification, or registration as a Psychologist (LP, LLP, TLLP), Physician (MD or DO), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC or LLPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed master's social worker (LMSW or LLMSW)
• •Eligibility to obtain licensure, certification, or registration immediately if not currently held
• •Certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional – Diplomate through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP), or a developmental plan to obtain such certification
• •Grandfathered status prior to 1/1/08 or a specific waiver from MDCH if not in the listed professions
• •Designation as a Mental Health Professional (MHP), Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), Children's Mental Health Professional (CMHP), and Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP), or eligibility to obtain these designations
• •Enrollment in or completion of formal study, course credits, and practicum experience at the graduate level in theory and application of current individual and group psychotherapies at an accredited college or university
• •Competence to provide assessments for all population groups including severely mentally ill adults, adults with acute behavioral health care problems, severely emotionally impaired children and families, persons who are developmentally disabled, persons with a substance abuse/chemically dependent disorder, and older adults with complicated medical/psychiatric problems
• •Documented, demonstrated skills, and understanding in clinical diagnostic work using the most recent version of the DSM, the most recent version of the American Society of Addiction Medicine Criteria (ASAM), or any like tools
• •Evidence of clinical judgement in the ability to accurately interpret psychological testing data and/or psychiatric evaluation information for the purpose of differential diagnosis and treatment decisions
• •Valid driver's license
• •Privilege to practice at WMCMH by the Executive Committee of the Clinical Oversight Committee of WMCMH
• •Availability for 12-hour shifts (7 am-7 pm) with a rotating schedule working no more than 7 shifts in 2-weeks
• •Availability to respond to service requests made by phone through the West Michigan CMH 24-hour phone service, ProtoCall
• •Availability to provide service for the WMCMH service area of Lake, Oceana, and Mason Counties
• •Ability to meet the 24/7/365 availability of the service per the program assigned schedule
• •Ability to engage well with the consumer, families, and fellow professionals
• •Ability to listen empathically
• •Ability to clinically understand the situation
• •Ability to triage risk
• •Ability to assess the clinical condition
• •Ability to de-escalate the situation
• •Ability to guide the individual to the most appropriate service to meet their need
• •Ability to perform Pre-Admission screenings (PAS)
• •Ability to provide Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) coaching
• •Ability to provide phone triage
• •Ability to provide mobile crisis services
• •Ability to complete a comprehensive assessment for Mental Health or Substance Use
• •Ability to identify and reflect each person's presenting problem
• •Ability to clarify the identified problem, including functional impairments and desired outcomes
• •Ability to perform a comprehensive mental status evaluation
• •Ability to identify health and safety risks
• •Ability to conduct a diagnostic workup
• •Ability to identify natural supports, consumer assets, and referrals
• •Ability to link and coordinate resources in accordance to each person's identified need
• •Ability to coordinate care, services or benefits provided to each person
• •Ability to coordinate services with each person's Primary Care Physician and qualified health care providers
• •Ability to assist in the development and maintenance of natural supports
• •Ability to serve as a consistent link into the system for the individual and/or family
• •Ability to provide educational support around the specific disability, and/or condition
• •Ability to provide education and/or counseling for families caring for, or who regularly interact with, a family member who has serious mental illness, addiction, severe emotional disturbance or disability
• •Ability to provide information about the disability, treatment options and regimens, use of medication, management and crisis situations
• •Ability to maintain the Key Elements of the Individual Consumer Record
• •Ability to assure the record is up to date and accurate with releases, consents, and other pertinent clinical information
• •Ability to maintain consumer's confidentiality of information
• •Ability to respond to community identified mental health crisis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• •Ability to serve on an after-hours on-call rotation
• •Ability to identify and clarify the presenting problem
• •Ability to perform crisis intervention
• •Ability to coordinate support and appropriate referral
• •Ability to review authorizations within the individuals, Individuals plan of service to ensure that services are provided are medically necessary and accomplish positive outcomes
• •Eligibility to obtain certification for one of the following: Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or a Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional – Diplomate through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or enter into a developmental plan to obtain certification following the requirements of MCBAP
• •Eligibility to be a Mental Health Professional (MHP), Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), Children's Mental Health Professional (CMHP) and a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) or must be eligible to obtain the designations
• •Eligibility to have been grandfathered into the position by MDCH prior to 1/1/08 or provided with a waiver specific to the individual and the position by MDCH

Desired Qualifications

• •One or more years of conducting clinical assessments
• •Previous work experience within a behavioral health setting such as a Community Mental Health
• •Emergency services and/or crisis management experience
• •Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) experience
• •Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders
