Crisis Service Safety Technician

Job Summary
Greet clients, families, and law enforcement partners upon arrival, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment while documenting demographics and initial observations. Conduct routine safety checks, environmental rounds, and room inspections for ligature risks or contraband, maintaining a secure, weapons-free facility. Monitor clients for escalating behavior or withdrawal symptoms, providing proactive risk mitigation and participating in BERT interventions using approved de-escalation strategies. Collect vital signs under clinical direction, verify insurance eligibility through Availity or GAMMIS, and engage clients in structured activities to build rapport. Assist with intake documentation, consent forms, and discharge planning, ensuring individuals leave with all documented personal belongings. Maintain accurate shift notes, critical incident reports, and census updates in EHR systems such as Avatar and Behavioral Health Link. Serve as the designated safety officer when onsite, adhering to HIPAA, CARF, and Claratel BH standards while completing required certifications like CPR and MindSet.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate degree or coursework in psychology, social work, or human services
- At least one year of experience in behavioral health, in-patient psychiatric, or crisis or correctional settings
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Avatar, BHL, Xferral)
- basic computer literacy
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and client-centered in high-stress situations
- Ability to stand, walk, and observe for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 2550 pounds and assist clients with mobility when needed
- Ability to execute physical containment and manual hold maneuvers
- Ability to rapidly respond to behavioral or medical emergencies
- Pre-employment drug screening and successful completion of a criminal history background check
- Complete and maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, MindSet, Defensive Driving)
- participate in mandatory ongoing trainings
