Job Summary
Conduct 24/7 crisis support, de-escalation, and stabilization for individuals in a 7-bed residential setting, managing intake, discharge, and daily living skill development. Provide rapid triage, assessment, and intervention while collaborating with community partners like police for care planning. Screen referrals, facilitate client programs, and advocate for linkages to community-based services. Complete all required documentation, maintain inventory, and perform light housekeeping duties including meal preparation. Ensure shift routines and compliance with program rules while supporting client recovery goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, social work, occupational therapy or a relevant field
- At least three (3) years' experience working with individuals with mental health and addictions issues, especially those with complex needs (e.g., concurrent disorders, dual diagnosis)
- Demonstrate assessment and crisis intervention skills with broad knowledge of emergency mental health, crisis stabilization, and crisis management planning
- Exceptional knowledge of pertinent legislation ie. Mental Health Act
- Exceptional skills in de-escalation, crisis stabilization, crisis management planning, resourcing and advocacy
- Well-developed problem-solving, prioritization and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of mental health symptoms, psychotropic medications and associated side effects
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to think 'outside the box' to identify plans of action to support individuals accessing the Crisis and Safe Bed Program
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage community services and individuals, increasing awareness of services
- Ability to display tact, cooperation, sensitivity and respect for the opinions and situations of others
- Proficiency in MS Word
- First Aid, CPR and ASIST certifications
- A valid G Drivers License, access to a reliable vehicle and adequate insurance coverage for business responsibilities, OR access to reliable transportation
- The successful applicant will be required to provide a police clearance that meets agency standards
- Successful candidates will be required to submit proof of a primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by the World Health Organization
