Job Summary
Facilitate enrollment and discharge, conduct follow-ups, and provide crisis intervention for all age groups. Respond to crisis calls in person within 30 minutes or by telephone within 15 minutes, assessing, triaging, and referring participants for appropriate follow-up treatment. Spend at least 50% of time out of the office meeting with community members and stakeholders in homes to educate them about entitlements and behavioral health services. Deliver care management, advocacy, and clinical services to the Seriously Mentally Ill and mental health participants while maintaining a calm, competent, and timely manner. Work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, days, evenings, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4 years' experience in behavioral health or combined behavioral health education and experience to meet qualifications for Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) qualification
- At least 21 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Availability by telephone
- First Aid, CPR and CPI training certification
- Able to work flexible schedule as needed: weekends, nights, days, evenings, and holidays
- Successful completion of background check
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance card through Arizona DPS
- Clearance with the Pinal County Sheriff's office
- Knowledge of local communities, resources, and entitlements for various funding sources
- Trained in crisis intervention
- Experience with services to agency participants and residents in the community
- Able to interact effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from varying education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
- Prior experience in the behavioral health setting
- Extensive knowledge and background of SMI population
- Knowledge of substance abuse
- Knowledge of how the acute and chronic nature of the chemical /co-dependence and the ways medical, emotional, behavioral, social, educational, and other interventions are used to treat the participant
- Demonstrable theoretical knowledge in the field
- Knowledgeable of benefit and entitlements process and community resources available
- Familiar with current psychotropic medications and side effects
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to develop treatment plan and summary based on participants needs
- Ability to understand the bio psychosocial influences and effects of chemical/co-dependencies
- Ability to type and working knowledge/familiarity with computers and electronic clinical record keeping
- Proven ability prioritizing workload
- Decision-making ability
- Using sound judgment to field inquiries concerning administrative, clinical and operational concerns
- Able to greet and deal effectively with participants, families, staff and community members
- Able to positively interact and develop rapport with participants and their families, professional and support staff and various levels of staff from community agencies
- Able to appropriately interact with participants without regard to gender and cultural variables
- Able to maintain a calm, non-defensive, supportive attitude during crisis or potential crisis situations
- Constant problem solving and reading/review analysis
- Ability to analyze variables and situations
- Ability to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure
- Ability to bed, left and carry up to 50 pounds
- Fully ambulatory and able to assist participants
- Able to operate phone, Fax, copier, and a computer
- Able to operate Agency vehicle
- Able to encounter occasional hazards such as but not limited to bodily fluids and potentially infectious materials and occasional breathing in odors, dust, smoke, and gases
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Knowledge of area and services to special populations including experience with seriously mentally ill participant population
- Bachelor's Degree in human service or related field
- Advanced knowledge of cultural diversity and sensitivity
