Job Summary
Crisis Intervention Worker provides crisis intervention within an education program for intellectually and developmentally disabled or at-risk adolescents. Responsibilities include managing disruptive, assaultive, and out-of-control behaviors; providing immediate intervention; assisting in the classroom when crises occur and remaining on call; referring students to supervisors or social workers as needed; monitoring major behavioral incidents and providing input to treatment teams to identify patterns of deviant behavior; compiling detailed notes and charts; coordinating In-School Suspension; attending Treatment Team Meetings and ongoing training; and performing related duties. Requires knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, strong written and oral communication, good observation skills, tact, emotional maturity, and physical condition appropriate to the job.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of sixty (6) credit hours of college study in social and/or behavioral sciences
- Two years direct experience with intellectually and developmentally disabled or at-risk adolescents
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in (A) and (B) above
