Job Summary
Telephonic crisis counselor delivering empathetic support, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and stabilization services to callers from a remote home office. Responsibilities include building rapport, actively listening, assessing emotional and behavioral health concerns, providing resources and safety planning, intervening in emergent situations, and maintaining accurate, timely documentation. Requires a private, distraction-free work space with a wired internet connection; six-week structured virtual onboarding; and weekend availability on a rotating schedule. Compensation includes base hourly pay with potential per-hour incentives and shift differentials; remote-first role with HIPAA-compliant practices and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4 year college or university
- Minimum of 1 year direct experience in behavioral health, counseling, or social services
- Ability to work remotely with a private, distraction-free space and HIPAA-compliant setup
- Access to hard-wired broadband or fiber with stable connection (minimum 10 Mbps)
- Ability to complete six-week paid virtual training and transition to regular schedule
- Eligibility to work remotely in Illinois
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to maintain HIPAA and professional standards while providing telephonic support
- Documentation of interactions and clinical notes
