Job Summary
Provide on-site crisis intervention, de-escalation, and stabilization services for adults and children at risk of behavioral health crises. Conduct mental health assessments using the Ask Suicide-Screening Questionnaire, establish rapport with callers, and contact first responders for imminent suicide risk. Collaborate with law enforcement and social agencies to offer Whole Person Approach solutions, including transportation and referrals. Schedule intake and outpatient follow-up appointments, complete home visits within required time limits, and administer support staff groups and training. Maintain flexibility for an on-call schedule to support program operations.
Required Qualifications
- Personal Vehicle with Illinois State Driver's License and full coverage auto insurance
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field from a CSWE accredited college or university
- Previous experience in crisis response, substance abuse, juvenile justice, advocacy, mental health, or equivalent
- An awareness or acceptance of the NASW Code of Ethics and is an effective and efficient communicator
- Is committed to serving the underserved with dignity, compassion, and respect
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Good driving record
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability
- Flexibility and willingness to participate in an on-call schedule as needed to support program operations
