Job Summary
Represent clients in Local and Supreme Courts across a broad range of criminal matters, including mentions, bail applications, pleas, hearings, jury trials, appeals, and complex litigation. Conduct trials, deliver culturally safe legal advice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, and travel to remote communities for circuit court representation. Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to strategic litigation, law reform, and systemic advocacy initiatives. Build trusted relationships with clients, communities, and multidisciplinary teams while working collaboratively with interpreters and client service officers.
Required Qualifications
- Admission (or eligibility for admission) as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory
- Current driver's licence
- Ability to obtain an Ochre Card
- Satisfactory criminal history clearance
- Willingness to travel to remote communities
- Experience in criminal law (implied by role levels: Junior, Intermediate, Senior)
