Job Summary
Criminal Defense Practice Leader co-leads Still She Rises’ Criminal Defense Practice, collaborating with the Legal Director to oversee day-to-day operations, develop the practice, and drive client-centered holistic advocacy. The role involves co-chairing felony cases with junior attorneys, supervising attorneys and paralegals, managing intake and case assignments, developing staff through trainings, and aligning practice goals with SSR’s mission. A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and 5+ years of criminal defense experience are required, along with strong leadership, mentorship, and commitment to equity. Relocation support is provided; compensation is $120,000 plus benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of criminal defense practice experience, including complex felonies
- J.D. from an American Bar Association accredited law school
- Prior experience managing and developing individual team members
- Enthusiastic alignment and commitment to SSR’s mission, vision and values
- Ability and desire to manage multiple projects at once
- Demonstrated commitment to racial, gender and social equity and against institutional racism
- Desire AND experience working with or on behalf of members or marginalized communities
- Superb communication skills
- Sound decision-making skills and ability to set clear priorities
