Job Summary
Crime Scene and Evidence Management Specialist primarily responsible for processing crime scenes, collecting evidence per department policy, maintaining chain of custody through final disposition; duties include identifying and securing evidence, photographing scenes, creating sketches, attending autopsies, preparing forensic reports, testifying in court, and working on-call; requires expertise in forensic evidence collection, police procedures, and use of evidence-collection equipment; must have strong technical writing skills and knowledge of applicable laws; on-call schedule and travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED equivalent
- valid Missouri driver’s license
- Associate’s Degree or 2 years equivalent work experience in the Criminal Justice field preferred
- Successful completion of an approved formal program of study specific to crime scene investigation
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office
