Job Summary
Crew Leader provides leadership and coaching to a tree-trimming crew to achieve production goals, identifies safety hazards, ensures compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and approved methods, and assigns tasks and priorities on the job site as directed by the General Foreperson. Responsibilities include conducting safety trainings and pre-job briefings, applying herbicides to treat brush and stumps, maintaining application records, obtaining property-owner permissions, coordinating site access, working near energized power lines and hazardous equipment, operating climbing and ground tools, inspecting work areas for hazards, loading equipment, repairing minor property damage, maintaining records on production and costs, interpreting maps and drawings for work orders, setting up traffic control, and ensuring customer relations and public relations. The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of tree care operations and ANSI/OSHA standards, effective communication, ability to travel for emergencies, and readiness for long hours and overtime. Education, certification, and experience requirements emphasize a minimum experience level and safety credentials; bilingual ability and CDL/DOT considerations may be preferred depending on assignment. The position is described as non-exempt, hourly, and eligible for union benefits with on-the-job safety emphasis and a focus on teamwork and compliance across field operations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews or has successfully completed applicable skills assessments
- Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
