Job Summary
Crew Leader responsible for supporting and coaching the crew to achieve production goals, identifying safety hazards, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations. Responsibilities include task allocation and prioritization, facilitating safety training, conducting pre-job briefings, applying herbicides to control brush, obtaining property-owner permissions, coordinating access to job sites, traveling to emergency assignments, maintaining records (timesheets, work orders, manhours), and ensuring effective customer relations. Requires leadership skills, ability to read maps and drawings, knowledge of ANSI Z133.1 and ANSI A300 standards, OSHA safety practices, and the ability to operate and maintain equipment and PPE in outdoor, physically demanding environments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience on tree trimming/clearing crews or completed applicable skills assessments
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
- First-Aid and CPR cards (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Valid driver’s license and DOT medical card may be required depending on division
- Herbicide application certification or equivalent as required by local law
- Ability to work long hours and overtime, including holidays and storm work
