Job Summary
Crew Chief (UAV) role responsible for in-field deployment of one of Canada’s most complex UAV systems and the world’s first autonomous parafoil. Based in Calgary, the role supports flight operations across Alberta, Canada, and the United States, leading field deployment, drone setup, fueling, maintenance, teardown, and thorough pre-flight inspections. You’ll act as the on-site point of coordination during agricultural spray operations, solve problems in real time, maintain operational tempo, and ensure safety standards are followed. Responsibilities include coordinating gear readiness, logging daily flights and performance data, supporting ground crew and onboarding new operators, managing on-the-ground logistics, and collaborating with engineering and ops teams to improve field protocols. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of hands-on UAV operations or technical support, drone maintenance or inspection experience, comfort outdoors in rural settings, and relevant licenses; bonus points for CAD/CAM, soldering, or 137/135 certifications. Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with hands-on UAV operations or technical support
- Background in drone maintenance, repair, or pre-flight inspections
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, and comfort working outdoors in rural/agricultural environments
- Familiarity with tools, warehouse logistics, and equipment handling
- Active passport, driver's license, and any other applicable drone licenses
