Job Summary
Credit Underwriter III responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting financial and credit information to assess the creditworthiness of the company’s commercial customers, focusing on moderately complex relationships. Prepares detailed financial analyses, cash-flow and simple projections, and written summaries of analysis for new and existing loan relationships. Communicates key findings to Business/Commercial Bankers and credit officers, monitors covenant compliance and financial reporting requirements, and exercises independent judgment on client credit analysis. Leads in the review of work and training of junior underwriters, participates in departmental projects, and stays informed on industry trends and regulatory requirements (BSA/OFAC). Requires experience in commercial lending areas such as CRE, C&I, and SBA lending; ability to analyze financial statements; strong communication and collaboration skills; and bondable status.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or similar field OR 10+ years of experience with HS diploma in lieu of degree
- 7-10+ years of experience in credit analysis/credit underwriting in a commercial lending environment
- Strong ability to analyze financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and tax returns
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must possess strong business math skills
- Must possess proven ability to think critically and communicate results concisely and clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively to solve problems and represent own opinion
- Bondable status
- Remain educated on industry trends, market conditions and regulatory requirements and actively develop professionally
