Job Summary
The role is a senior Mortgage Underwriter position based in the Zillow India Bangalore office (onsite 4 days/week with 1 remote day). Responsibilities include conducting thorough analyses of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with agency, company, and investor guidelines, reviewing resubmitted files, issuing independent loan decisions, entering data into Encompass LOS, maintaining service levels and turn-time standards, handling audits, staying current with policy/regulatory changes, and collaborating with processing staff on underwriting deficiencies. Candidates should have 5+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and experience with underwriting Jumbo loans and manual underwriting when applicable. The job emphasizes a mixture of in-office presence and remote work within a hybrid arrangement, with the shift and location anchored to the Bangalore office. Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
- 6+ years mortgage industry experience
- Ability to Underwrite mortgage loan files for agency compliance and investor guidelines
- Experience reviewing and evaluating borrower profiles, including income documentation, personal and business tax returns, credit reports, preliminary title reports, and appraisals
- Ability to manage a large pipeline and effectively handle pressure and tight deadlines
- Strong analytical decision-making, problem-solving, prioritization of workload
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to develop and maintain professional relationships with peers and management
- Experience underwriting Jumbo loans preferred
- Experience with recent manual underwriting
- Experience in a medium to large size nonbank lender preferred
- Encompass experience preferred
