Job Summary
Credit & Commercial Manager to own credit strategy for the second charge mortgage product, shaping credit policy, underwriting strategy, risk scoring, pricing models, and automated decisioning. You’ll work with product, engineering, legal, and commercial to align on funding strategy, portfolio economics (IRR/NPV/cashflow), valuation considerations, and regulatory requirements (MCOB/FCA). The role involves defining decision rules, translating policy into executable logic, driving growth while maintaining portfolio quality, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to embed credit decisioning into the platform.
Required Qualifications
- Deep experience in secured lending credit risk
- Experience with second charge mortgages or similar secured products
- Strong knowledge of risk scoring and pricing
- Understanding of funding and capital constraints (LTV covenants, valuations, investor criteria)
- Commercial awareness and growth mindset
- Familiarity with end-to-end secured lending process (quote through completion)
- Analytical rigour; SQL required, Python a plus
- Regulatory awareness (MCOB and FCA for second charge lending)
- Experience designing for scale and automation (decision logic, scorecards, rules)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with loan servicing — settlements, collections, arrears management, and recoveries in a secured lending context
- Exposure to broker distribution models and how credit policy interacts with intermediary channels
- Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment, or a desire to move from a large organisation into one
- Experience with decisioning platforms or rules engines
