Job Summary

Lead underwriting efforts for complex loan requests by assessing creditworthiness and recommending risk-mitigating structures while independently analyzing credit risk and resolving portfolio problems. Continuously monitor assigned portfolio performance to identify emerging risks, trends, and financial concerns, then partner with relationship managers to negotiate loan terms and review credit agreements with legal teams. Provide strategic recommendations to credit teams and mentor junior professionals by sharing expertise and best practices. Adhere to regulatory policies and complete required compliance trainings.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 10+ years of equivalent experience
  • 4+ Years in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management
  • Advanced financial modeling and risk assessment expertise
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to collaborate with clients
  • Experience structuring complex loan transactions
  • Ability to analyze macroeconomic trends and their impact on credit risk
  • Strong command of financial modeling, industry-specific credit risks, and structuring commercial credit transactions
  • Ability to proactively identify potential credit risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies
  • Works with RMs and clients to structure loan terms that align with both client needs and risk parameters
  • Manages complex portfolios, ensuring proactive monitoring and adherence to credit policies
  • Builds strong relationships with internal and external partners, effectively communicating credit decisions
  • Ability to drive loan structuring and closing processes with minimal oversight
  • Familiarity with credit agreements, loan documentation, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools, CRM systems, and underwriting software
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, engaging in proactive collaboration, and leveraging cross functional insights
  • Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results
  • Builds trusted client relationships, whether internal or external, by identifying needs and delivering tailored solutions to enhance the overall client experience
