Job Summary

Prepare credit approval packages for new and renewed products, analyzing financial performance, covenant compliance, and risk drivers. Analyze guarantors, review loan documents pre-closing, and maintain credit files by managing financial reporting and covenant requirements. Monitor portfolio performance, identify risk rating changes, and develop strategies for exposure reduction. Partner with Credit Products Managers to lead underwriting, structuring, and negotiation for leveraged transactions, including building complex financial models and conducting due diligence. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations while mentoring analysts on deal execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Two (2) years of underwriting experience or financial services analysis and accounting experience
  • Ability to competently complete credit packages and credit services agreements with management oversight
  • Completion of a major corporate credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience)
  • Ability to identify and voice issues
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and is able to multi-task
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks in existing and proposed credit products
  • Analyze new commercial credit opportunities
  • Underwrite new or renewed credit exposure
  • Manage a portfolio of loans and other credit relationships
  • Prepare credit approval packages on new and renewed credit products
  • Determination of the appropriate risk rating as well as risk factors that could change the risk rating
  • Analysis of financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, relationship profitability (RAROC), and any other significant risk drivers
  • Analyze guarantors as needed to support credit underwriting
  • Review of loan documents pre-closing
  • Maintains credit files including post-closing items
  • Actively manages financial reporting requirements, covenant requirements, past dues and documentation exceptions
  • Ensures credit files are complete with all up to date information
  • Implements and maintains ticklers
  • Monitor and services portfolio in conjunction with Shared Services support
  • Validate the appropriate risk rating for a company and proactively identifies risk rating changes
  • Identifies opportunities for exposure reduction or new opportunities within assigned portfolio
  • Develops a strong working knowledge of and insures compliance with internal bank commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy, and external regulatory requirements
  • Documents any exceptions to policy and provides related rationale/mitigants
  • Partner with Product Specialists to lead credit screening, underwriting, structuring, negotiation, closing, and documentation of leveraged transactions
  • Take primary responsibility for building and maintaining complex financial models for both sponsor-backed and corporate clients
  • Conduct in-depth due diligence and drive credit analysis to assess risk, structure, and pricing
  • Serve as a key point of contact with coverage teams, credit risk, legal, and other stakeholders throughout the deal lifecycle
  • Support portfolio management efforts post-close, including monitoring performance, covenant compliance, and risk trends
  • Ensure consistent application of underwriting standards, due diligence practices, and documentation review
  • Lead review of loan documentation and closing diligence in coordination with legal counsel and internal partners
  • Maintain and apply market knowledge of leveraged finance trends, including pricing, structural features, and capital solutions
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Analysts on deal execution and credit analysis
  • Advanced analytical and financial modeling capabilities
  • Strong credit judgment and ability to independently assess complex transactions
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify key risks and proactively recommend solutions
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple transactions under tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
