Job Summary

Evaluate loan requests to identify purpose, risk elements, and collateral adequacy by analyzing financial statements, tax returns, and credit data to determine creditworthiness. Assess liquidity, management quality, and market position to estimate future profitability, then input risk rating model outputs to develop credit recommendations and write-ups for loan structuring. Monitor loan portfolios, prepare packages, and initiate annual reviews while identifying deteriorating credits early for restructuring. Create and maintain credit files, document findings, and ensure loan documentation matches approval terms. May mentor newly hired analysts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics and/or business
  • Experience with financial and/or borrower analysis
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and effectively utilize other technology applications
  • Understanding of financial models
  • Ability to gather relevant research, analyze data, and synthesize information to draw conclusions and produce insights
  • Effective presentation and communication skills, with the ability to collaboratively make an impact
  • Ability to plan, multi-task, manage time effectively, and work, independently at times, with supervision of senior team members
  • Ability to gather or pull together relevant information and utilize it to draw insights, conclusions, solution problems, make decisions and/or tell a story
  • Demonstrated understanding of foundational accounting principles and the ability to interpret and analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements) to assess a company's financial health and ability to meet its obligations
  • Ability to effectively utilize various tools and techniques, including financial ratios, to evaluate a borrower's financial strength and assess risk
  • Ability to effectively identify, assess, and control potential risks involved with corporate lending
  • Ability to effectively interpret and negotiate credit agreements and loan documentation
  • Understanding of how specific loan terms and conditions can be employed to mitigate risk of loss
  • Ability to clearly, concisely, and persuasively convey information, whether verbal, written, or nonverbal
  • Ability to effectively synthesize large amounts of complex information into a more consumable summary
  • Ability to effectively identify, evaluate, and interpret information, and question assumptions to reach well-supported, evidence-based conclusions
