Job Summary
Calculate cash flows and loan loss reserves for legacy loan portfolios by reviewing credit and financial information. Estimate lifetime losses on the commercial loan portfolio and determine required reserves to cover credit risk of impaired credits. Coordinate data and processes for internal, external, and regulatory reporting, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual departmental reports. Act as a liaison between the department, internal business units, commercial banking relationship managers, and special assets. Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls while maintaining internal control standards and addressing audit points.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Two years of relevant experience
- In lieu of degree, a combined minimum of six years' education and relevant experience
- Strong analytical ability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to evaluate and determine credit risks of commercial clients through detailed financial statement analysis
- Ability to perform industry assessment, collateral valuation, and cash flow analysis
- Ability to determine estimated loss or loan loss reserve required to cover credit risk of impaired commercial credits
- Ability to properly calculate cash flows and loan loss reserves for legacy loan portfolios
- Ability to review pertinent credit and financial information
- Ability to assist in estimation of Lifetime Loss on the Commercial Loan portfolio
- General knowledge of accounting pronouncements and the effect on Bank credits
- Specific focus on Loan Loss Reserve and Troubled Debt Restructures
- Ability to coordinate data and processes in support of Internal and external reporting requirements
- Ability to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements of the department
- Ability to participate in various Departmental projects
- Ability to adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies
- Ability to maintain M&T internal control standards
- Ability to implement timely internal and external audit points
- Ability to address issues raised by external regulators
- Ability to interact with both internal and external contacts
- Ability to act as liaison between department and other business units
- Ability to interact with Commercial Banking Relationship Managers and Special Assets
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
