Job Summary
Initiate, process, review, and analyze physician and allied health applications for initial appointment, exercising independent judgment on credentialing standards. Conduct primary source verification and validation of documents including licensure, board certification, and malpractice history. Enter provider data into the Cactus database, upload CAQH profiles, and independently prepare files for the Credentials Committee. Manage requests for additional privileges, temporary privileges, and status changes while maintaining a tickler system for follow-up. Utilize public relations skills to communicate with internal and external sources, generate data reports, and audit provider files for legal compliance. Ensure file completeness and communicate final on-boarding details, including Delineation of Privileges, to providers post-committee review.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors' Degree
- minimum of three years experience in medical staff credentialing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills, including word processing and data base maintenance
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- Medical staff credentialing certification from NAMSS (National Association of Medical Staff Services)
- Self-motivated with the ability to complete projects independently within established timeframes
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to cope with interruptions, varying personalities, rush projects, and demanding medical staff
- Must be well organized and able to prioritize responsibilities
- Must have independent judgment and interpersonal relationship skills in working with medical staff leaders and other Departments in the NYU Health System
