Job Summary
Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, while preparing patients for surgery and monitoring their vital signs during procedures. Obtain blood and stool samples, perform in-hospital laboratory testing, and take or develop radiographs following safety protocols. Administer medications, anesthesia, and vaccines at the veterinarian's discretion, and provide basic animal restraint and handling. Clean exam rooms, restock supplies, and maintain medical equipment while tracking lab specimens and patient instructions. Work closing shifts and/or weekends, lifting patients and equipment up to 25 pounds with assistance.
Required Qualifications
- State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
- Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages
- Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

- Ability to work closing shifts and/or weekends
