Creative Director
$200,000–$280,000 year
On-siteNew York City, New York, United States or San Francisco, California, United States
Job Summary
Own creative direction across the full funnel: campaigns, editorial content, social, experiential activations, paid amplification, and web. Make work yourself by concepting, writing, and art directing while raising the bar for everything you don't personally touch. Build and run a mini in-house content studio, managing internal creatives or freelancers to establish workflows that ship consistently at a high bar. Manage external agencies and production partners from concept to final delivery, developing brand collaborations that build Sesame's world and earn cultural relevance. Partner with Product and Industrial Design to keep one coherent creative language across the app, hardware, and every channel in between. This role defines Sesame's look, sound, and feel as a new category of wearable voice agents, requiring a player-coach who treats beautiful email with the same obsession as a billboard. Candidates must partner with brand and product marketing to develop campaigns that delight users and break through in culture.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of creative experience with consumer brands
- a portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft, taste, and range — editorial, campaign, social, and ideally experiential
- Hands-on authorship: work you personally wrote, art directed, or edited — not only oversaw
- Experience directing external agencies, production partners, or freelancers
- In-house experience at a consumer brand
- Comfort partnering with product and growth marketing teams
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or New York
- NYC-based candidates should expect to travel to SF as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Experience building or running an in-house creative or content studio, including managing creatives
- Proven fluency in paid-channel creative (paid social, app install, OOH amplification) and iterating against results
- A track record of brand collaborations or cultural partnerships
- Roots in premium worlds — fashion, luxury, media/publishing, or culture-forward DTC — paired with comfort operating at startup pace
- 0→1 experience launching a brand or product
- Experience with both software and hardware consumer products
