Job Summary

Lay out, cut, and fabricate crates for coils and unit coolers by reading specifications, measuring dimensions, and assembling materials. Place products in containers, bolt heavy pieces, and wrap items with excelsior or paper. Build crates around large or odd-shaped articles, attach identification labels, and tighten metal bands. Repair broken crates as necessary, count items to ensure compliance with shipping orders, and weigh loaded crates. Move containers and supplies to the shipping area, sharpen saw blades, and check work for quality. Complete tasks as assigned by the supervisor, charge time accurately in the IFS system, and maintain a safe, clean working environment while complying with all company policies and government regulations.

  • Must be able to place products in containers and bolt heavy pieces to the bottom of the container or skid
  • Must be able to wrap and pad products with excelsior, paper, or other packing materials
  • Must be able to build crates around large or odd-shaped articles and nail covers onto crates
  • Must be able to wrap and tighten metal bands around crates
  • Must be able to attach identification labels or stencils containing shipping destination, weight, and type of product contained
  • Must be able to repair broken crates as necessary
  • Must be able to count items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders and weigh loaded crates
  • Must be able to move containers to shipping area, and move lumber, paper, and other wrapping supplies to crating area
  • Must be able to sharpen saw blades
  • Must be able to check work and ensure quality
  • Must be able to contribute to team efforts by working with others and accomplishing related functions as needed
  • Must be able to complete tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Must be able to comply with government regulations, laws, company policies, and procedures
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary
  • Must be able to attend work as required
  • Must be able to arrive for work on time
  • Must be able to charge time accurately in time and attendance system to ensure proper labor distribution and payroll
  • Must be able to care for tools and equipment, and notify maintenance of equipment issues
  • Must be able to clean work area as required
  • Must be able to sign on/off jobs in IFS
  • Must be able to sustain use of eyesight for functions such as visual inspection, reading, measuring and operating hand tools
  • Must be able to see objects and detect motion at wide angles (peripheral vision) in order to maintain employee safety
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection)

Desired Qualifications

  • A high school level of education is preferred for this position in order to continue upward advancement within the company
  • On-site training
  • Forklift license
